After years immersed in the corporate world and creative industries, Sally and Barry have returned to the West Coast — a place close to Barry’s roots — bringing with them a wealth of professional expertise. With backgrounds spanning business strategy, design, product development and high-level project management, they’re now channelling that experience into something personal and place-based.
Formerly founding and developing several NZ businesses and now residing in Hokitika — the heart of the West Coast — they are ready to use their wealth of business knowledge and keen eye for design to create a dynamic business hub catering to both locals and tourists.
Sally Paterson is a talented design professional with a passion for creativity and a strong entrepreneurial background. Throughout her career, she has founded and developed several successful New Zealand businesses, blending her expertise in design, product development, and retail.
Sally’s first venture, Patersonrose, specialises in exquisite bed linen, where she focuses on design, product development, and managing international production. She went on to establish Shopology, a renowned New Zealand design store, where she curated a collection of unique design-forward pieces. Additionally, Sally launched Sall and Co, a youth fashion brand that showcases stylish, locally designed clothing.
With a wealth of business knowledge and a keen eye for detail, Sally brings innovation and experience to every project she undertakes. After selling Shopology and relocating to the breathtaking West Coast, she was ready for her next adventure.
Sally purchased the Resene building on Revell Street with a vision to transform it into a vibrant business hub. Her plan is to combine accommodation, a design studio/gallery, and a retail space in one dynamic location. This new project reflects her passion for blending creativity with functionality.
Looking to the future, Sally envisions expanding her concept to include additional beachfront accommodation, offering a unique experience for both locals and tourists. Each space will be thoughtfully designed, with a focus on comfort, creativity, and the natural beauty of the West Coast.
Our exciting new Shop & Gallery will be opening on Revell Street, Hokitika in 2026. Follow us to keep updated
